What Causes Male Infertility?
While women gain much of the focus when the word "infertility" is introduced, men have seen a steady rise in infertility problems over the past several decades. Men can experience infertility because of genetic, physical, or psychological reasons.
Below are three common reasons for male infertility.
Sperm Abnormality
Most are familiar with the concept of low sperm count, but many fail to see the importance of quality. Some men are able to produce a high number of sperm, but still have trouble fertilizing the egg because of abnormalities. Common issues involve the tail not moving, or consisting of high toxins from smoke inhalation or chemical exposure.
Testical Abnormality
Men can be born with abnormal testes or suffer an injury resulting in infertility. Klinefelter's syndrome, undescended testicles, inflammation of the testes and physical injury are the most common abnormalities.
Ejaculation Problems
Men who produce healthy sperm may still experience infertility in the form of ejaculation abnormalities. Erectile disfunction and blockage of the reproductive system are the most common conditions. Some men also suffer from the absence of the vas deferens, the tubes linking the testes and penis.
